LAMB OF GOD Drummer Issues Band Update
March 23, 2004LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler has issued the following update regarding the band's recent sand upcoming activities:
"What's new everyone? Lot's going on over here. We have been keeping our heads very low at home writing the new CD, but things are a whirlwind around us. We've almost completed the writing and it feels very, very good. We demo'd 7 songs in late Janaury and have written 4 more since. I don't want to try and describe it because I will inevitably give someone some type of expectation and we purposely tossed any idea of expectations out the window when we began the writing process.
"We get a lot of mail asking if we have changed since the last record and if so how and why? The simple answer is 'Hell Yes!!!' Here's the how/why: We've individually all grown as players and have more to offer, together we know each other as musicians better than ever and are a better band for it, and collectively we now have even more experience making kick ass music. We make the music we love, not radio jams or hit singles but strong, challenging and thought provoking music that we care about and put a lot into.
"At the end of the day when we look back on all of this, every member of this band wants to hold their head high and know we gave it our all and did it our way. That may not be the recipe for 'success' in this business, but it is the recipe to avoid regret — and for better or worse — that's how we roll.
"Enough about the new stuff, needless to say, we haven't disappointed ourselves — our toughest critics by far.
"The DVD has been out for a bit and it's funny to hear the stories back from our friends and fans that have seen it and have similar stories of their own to tell. We were really excited to be able to offer that glimpse into our world and keep the price down. When it comes down to it, we're fans of music just like you. We go to the concerts and buy the t-shirts and DVD's and hate getting reamed on these things. The last thing we ever want to do is to rip off the people that support us. We will always fight to keep our quality high and our cost low out of respect for the people who help make it possible for us to do this.
"Thanks to everyone who picked up a DVD, we appreciate it and hope you enjoy it.
"Ozzfest. Who knew? Yes, we turned it down last year. Yes, we accepted this year. Look at the difference in the billing. Case closed. As for scheduling and release stuff — as crazy as it sounds (to us anyway),we're going to attempt to record the new CD before we tour this summer. There are a lot of things that play into this so don't hold me to it, but this will potentially allow for a fall 04 (Sept/Oct) release. There's a ton more happening including the release of 'As the Palaces Burn' on vinyl, but I'll have to leave that till next time. Time to go 'make the donuts' (rehearsal)."
